Cerec is a a single visit solution for high quality ceramic, veneers, crowns, onlays and inlays. Before the days of Cerec technology you would need to wait at least 2 weeks for you new veneers, crowns or restorations to be made by a dental laboratory. Now your Leeds cerec crowns, onlays and veneers can be fabriacted within an hour onsite. Most dental practices do not offer cerec technology although there are a handful of practices that do offer Cerec in and around the Leeds area. One of the most exclusive centrers of Cerec excellence is situated in Manchester at a dental practice called Kissdental.
How does cerec work?
CEREC uses CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, incorporating a camera which takes a digital impression that is relayed to a computer. This information is then sent via a wireless signal to a milling machine which makes the restoration from a block of ceramic. Your Leeds cerec dentist uses a special camera to take an accurate picture of the damaged tooth. Once the new tooth has been made it iis stained and glazed to give an accurate colour match and then it is bonded onto the prepared exisiting tooth. The whole process from the design to the final fit takes about one hour
